Mich. (January 23, 2006)- Jervis B. Webb Company - a world
leader in material handling solutions - today announced a $24 million contract
with the City of Atlanta’s Department of Aviation to upgrade and
extend the baggage handling conveyor system at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta
International Airport, Concourse E. The Webb Company installed the
original conveyor system in 1994.
Under the terms of the project, Webb will install new
electrical controls, a state-of-the-art computer system and more than a mile of
new conveyor. The upgraded system will allow Transportation Security
Agency personnel to more quickly and effortlessly screen checked passenger
baggage arriving in Atlanta on international flights and connecting to domestic
flights. The new system is expected to be operational by December
2006.
