The Webb Company is always looking for ways to better serve our customers. In 2005, we began implementing Lean Manufacturing and 5S to further improve our manufacturing processes and, ultimately, lower costs for our clients. Our plants in Boyne City and Harbor Springs, Michigan; Carlisle, South Carolina; and Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, are already experiencing the benefits of 5S. Our Boyne City plant has increased its efficiency by more than 20% thanks to our lean efforts.
In addition to Lean Manufacturing, Webb recently began Lean Engineering and Lean Office, which together we call our new Webb Lean Enterprise System. The lean system
is helping us improve efficiency and processes in the office. We are also
looking at several of our products in a multi-phase effort to lean our engineering designs to improve manufacturability. The company is beginning to implement Lean Office at its headquarters in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
We believe our Lean Enterprise System will help us improve the way we do business and become a world class material handling organization.
